Tuberculosis Central Office
The TB Central Office (TBCO) conducts surveillance
for cases and maintains a registry with clinical and follow-up data on
all TB patients reported in Chicago. In addition, contact investigations
are monitored and special investigations are coordinated through TBCO.
At the time of case (or suspect) report, TBCO assigns patients to a
public health nursing station and suggests the nearest TB clinic based
on the patient's address. Also at TSCO are copies of current ATS and CDC
guidelines for treating and preventing TB.
